Memorial Gifts
at the Community Foundation of West Alabama

In Memoriam

The Community Foundation of West Alabama can provide a way to create a fitting tribute to a loved one who has passed away.  Creating a memorial that bears the name of your friend or family member takes only a few minutes but will create a lasting legacy of that special person.  Gifts of any size are welcome and are fully tax deductible.  For donations over $10,000 a fund can be created in the name of your loved one and can support one or more causes that were meaningful to them.  Funds can be created to benefit specific charities or to a benefit a general field of interest such as health, education or social services.

Memorials

The Foundation is grateful for contributions made in the memory or friends or family who have passed away.  Remembrances contributed to the Community Funds of the Community Foundation of West Alabama are a fitting tribute to those who have enriched our lives and community.  These are truly gifts that keep on giving.  Memorials will be recognized in the Community Foundation’s newsletter and on our website.

Grandmother with Grandchildren

THE PERFECT GIFT

How many times have we faced the dilemma of finding a gift for the person who has everything?  It happens all the time for best friends, husbands, wives, grandmothers, and secret pals.  In this edition, the Community Foundation of West Alabama aims to help by offering you the opportunity to pay tribute to your special someone by giving a donation to the CFWA in his or her honor.  These gifts can be made on a birthday, anniversary, birth of a child, retirement, to honor a teacher, professor or someone who has been a guide during life such as a pastor or a co-worker.  The CFWA also invites you to honor the memory of a  loved one by giving to the foundation in their memory.  Honorariums and memorials are a noteworthy way to honor those most important to you, while fostering principles that positively influence your community.
You can even plan an entire year of tributes with one single gift knowing that the CFWA will recognize them on the dates you provide.  Your gifts can be of cash; however, other property can be used such as appreciated stock, bonds, or mutual funds.  With these gifts, you not only receive regular tax savings, but you totally avoid the capital gains tax.
We are your premier local source for charitable gift planning.  The CFWA goes beyond simply making grants that advance charitable activities:  we also identify current and emerging issues, stimulate resources to address those needs and help our region prepare for the future.  To plan your charitable giving or to utilize the CFWA to honor someone important to you, please contact the office at 366-0698.
