COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARDS SPRING GRANTS
The following ten grants were funded by the Eugenia
Patton “Pat” Faucett Donor Advised Fund of CFWA. A total of
$12,834.00 was awarded to area agencies. The Community
Foundation of West Alabama, established in 1999, is a charitable
organization which supports various cultural, health, social and
educational programs in Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Marengo,
Pickens, Sumter, and Tuscaloosa counties. A grants committee
selects grant recipients. |

THE ARC OF
TUSCALOOSA
The ARC of Tuscaloosa County received a $1000.00 grant.
Funding will be used to provide participants with aquatic exercise
and a swim program. The program is designed for therapeutic
aquatic exercise for individuals with limited mobility.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
The Community Foundation issued a $1000.00 grant to Habitat
for Humanity. Funds will help with the cost of construction
materials for Habitat’s 40th home in the Tuscaloosa area.

TUSCALOOSA CHILDREN’S
THEATRE
The Community Foundation issued a $1500.00 grant to Tuscaloosa
Children’s Theatre. This grant will be used for sponsoring a
show or to purchase new costumes, repair and renovate old ones, and
equip musicians with new instruments. |

CAMP SMILE-A-MILE
The Community Foundation of West Alabama (CFWA) recently
announced that a $1000.00 grant has been awarded to Camp
Smile-A-Mile. Funding will be used for the 2008 year-round
programs. They provide recreational and educational
experiences for Alabama’s children with cancer and their families at
no cost to the families. |
CARING DAYS
ADULT DAY CARE
A $1719.80 grant has been awarded to Caring Days Adult Day Care.
Funding will be used to purchase four new recliners with durable
vinyl which is easy to clean and longer lasting. |

EASTER SEALS OF WEST
ALABAMA
$1500.00 was awarded to Easter Seals of West Alabama.
Funds will provide occupational therapy for children with special
needs. Children benefiting from this service include children
with developmental delays, autism, cerebral palsy, Downs Syndrome,
feeding and swallowing disorders, and seizure disorders |
THE KING’S
RANCH AND HANNAH HOME
A $1000.00 grant has been awarded to The King’s Ranch & Hannah Homes.
Funding will provide counseling for women and children who have been
victims or witnesses of domestic violence. |

TUSCALOOSA' S ONE PLACE
The Community Foundation of West Alabama (CFWA) recently announced
that a $1500.00 grant has been awarded to Tuscaloosa’s One Place.
Funds will be used to purchase materials, educational supplies, and
incentives to be used in their after-school programs as well as nine
summer camps to be operated this summer. |
UNITED
CEREBRAL PALSY OF WEST ALABAMA
United Cerebral Palsy of West Alabama received a $1,115.00
grant. Funding will provide equipment for scrap booking projects for
the adult clients in the Day Habilitation Program. |

WEST ALABAMA FOOD BANK
$1500.00 was awarded to West Alabama Food Bank. This grant will
be used to provide a food supplement for elderly citizens living on
fixed incomes below the poverty line. These funds will deliver
a food supplement to more than 300 recipients. |
