The Community Foundation of West Alabama (CFWA) recently announced
that a $500.00 grant has been awarded to The Tuscaloosa Children’s
Center. Established in 1987, the Tuscaloosa Children’s Center
provides counseling for child victims of physical and sexual abuse.
Regardless of income, all services are provided to children and
their supportive family members free of charge. Timely mental
health therapy is a crucial factor in helping a child recover from
abuse and the Tuscaloosa Children’s Center provides a safe
environment in which children can come for counseling. The
warm staff, cozy waiting room covered with children’s handprints and
friendly atmosphere all help to alleviate the fears of children
traumatized by abuse. The Center also provides community
education programs to schools, churches, and after-care programs
concerning child abuse prevention, anger management and teen
pregnancy prevention. |
