The Community Foundation of West Alabama Supports Education

The Community Foundation of West Alabama (CFWA) recently announced grant funding awarded to several schools within the Tuscaloosa County and City Schools. 

The Community Foundation is very excited to be a part of the educational process in West Alabama.  These grants were funded by the Education Fund within the CFWA.  The Community Foundation of West Alabama, established in 1999, is a charitable organization which supports various cultural, health, social and educational programs in Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Marengo, Pickens, Sumter, and Tuscaloosa counties.  A grants committee selects grant recipients.

Amy Senn, Alberta Elementary, received a grant of $484 to purchase materials for her classroom.



Grant Awarded to Paul Bryant High School


Shannon Bogert, Paul Bryant High School, received $445 for the purchase of Alabama High School Graduation Exam Reading material.



Carmen Davis, Faucett Vestavia Elementary School, received $449 to purchase materials for the Second Grade Storybook Science project.

The Community Foundation of West Alabama (CFWA) recently announced that a $476.00 grant has been awarded to Fayette Elementary School.  The grant will be used to purchase complete sets of nonfiction texts.  Six copies of each title will allow for numerous students to benefit from building knowledge on these topics.  The books will be housed in the school’s media center and be available for check out by all teachers.  Sherry S. Corbett, the school’s reading coach, applied for the funding.



Joseph Spann, University Place Middle School, received $500 towards the purchase of band instruments for the new program.

Major Herb Ragsdale, principal of Central High School, received a grant of $500 to partially fund a project designed to assist incoming 9th graders adjust to high school.
