COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANT TO CHILDREN’S HANDS-ON MUSEUM OF TUSCALOOSA

The Community Foundation of West Alabama (CFWA) recently announced that a $1000.00 grant has been awarded to the Children’s Hands-On Museum of Tuscaloosa.  The grant will be used toward the development of a new “Space Station” exhibition gallery inside the museum and an upgrade of CHOM’s Rotunda Planetarium. 

This grant was one of seventeen grants funded by the P.D. & Anna E. Brown Education, Health & Welfare Fund of CFWA.  A total of $20,200.00 was awarded to area agencies.  The Community Foundation of West Alabama, established in 1999, is a charitable organization which supports various cultural, health, social and educational programs in Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Marengo, Pickens, Sumter, and Tuscaloosa counties.  A grants committee selects grant recipients.

COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANT TO COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAMS OF WEST ALABAMA, INC.

The Community Foundation of West Alabama (CFWA) recently announced that a $1500.00 grant has been awarded to Community Service Programs of West Alabama, Inc.  Funding will be used to provide four elderly and handicapped citizens with hot, nutritious meals for one year. 

This grant was one of seventeen grants funded by the P.D. & Anna E. Brown Education, Health & Welfare Fund of CFWA.  A total of $20,200.00 was awarded to area agencies.  The Community Foundation of West Alabama, established in 1999, is a charitable organization which supports various cultural, health, social and educational programs in Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Marengo, Pickens, Sumter, and Tuscaloosa counties.  A grants committee selects grant recipients.

COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANT TO EAGLES’ WINGS, INC.

The Community Foundation of West Alabama (CFWA) recently announced that a $1000.00 grant has been awarded to Eagles’ Wings, Inc.  Eagles’ Wings is a private, non-profit corporation that was formed in 2005 with the stated purpose of providing vocational and residential services to adults with special needs.  This grant will help fund a facility to provide services for individuals’ spiritual, physical, emotional and social needs. 

This grant was one of seventeen grants funded by the P.D. & Anna E. COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANT TO FAMILY COUNSELING SERVICE OF TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, INC.

The Community Foundation of West Alabama (CFWA) recently announced that a $1500.00 grant has been awarded to Family Counseling Service of Tuscaloosa County, Inc.  The Family Counseling Service of Tuscaloosa County was established in 1964.  One of the most common types of services FCS provides is marriage counseling.  Many times, this is difficult for couples with children.  These funds will help provide a supervised play  area for children while their parents are in another area for counseling sessions.

COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANT TO FOCUS ON SENIOR CITIZENS

 

The Community Foundation of West Alabama (CFWA) recently announced that a $1000.00 grant has been awarded to FOCUS On Senior Citizens.  These funds will provide two computers for the senior citizens to use.  The computers will also provide access to the Internet for them.

COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANT TO HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF TUSCALOOSA

The Community Foundation of West Alabama (CFWA) recently announced that a $1500.00 grant has been awarded to Habitat for Humanity of Tuscaloosa.  This will help fund a “ReStore” center so Habitat for Humanity can sell materials at a discounted price to the public.  This will help to increase the funding base for Habitat for Humanity.

COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANT TO UNITED CEREBRAL PALSY OF WEST ALABAMA

The Community Foundation of West Alabama (CFWA) recently announced that a $1700.00 grant has been awarded to United Cerebral Palsy of West Alabama for the purchase of a raised sandbox and wheelchair-adaptive swings for the new park being constructed at UCP.
