COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF WEST ALABAMA FUNDS WEST ALABAMA FOOD BANK

November 20, 2007, Tuscaloosa…The Community Foundation of West Alabama is happy to award a grant of $1500 to the West Alabama Food Bank as part of the fall grant cycle.  The West Alabama Food Bank’s Brown Bag Project targets elderly citizens living on a fixed income.  The project provides a food supplement each month to more than 300 recipients.  Volunteers and staff gather at the food bank on the third Saturday of each month to prepare and deliver the Brown Bags. Each bag contains at least 13 food items, weighs at least 20 pounds and cost the food bank about $5.00 to prepare and deliver.  The grant from the CFWA will fund the December delivery.


COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF WEST ALABAMA PARTNERS WITH MENTAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION FOR KID’S PROGRAM

November 20, 2007, Tuscaloosa…The Community Foundation of West Alabama is pleased to award a grant of $1500 to the Mental Health Association of West Alabama as part of the fall grant cycle. Toni Welbourne is the new executive director of the Mental Health Association of West Alabama.  One of her goals is to revitalize a prevention program known as Kids on the Block.  This program is designed for elementary school children to help them deal with bullying and school safety.  The grant from the CFWA will provide funding for the program.

RED CROSS RECEIVES FUNDS FROM COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF WEST ALABAMA

November 20, 2007, Tuscaloosa…The Community Foundation of West Alabama is pleased to award a grant of $1500 to the West Alabama Chapter of the Red Cross.  The Red Cross Community Education Program is an outreach program to local schools providing educational programs to elementary and middle school children.  The grant provided by the CFWA will help offset the cost of supplies for these projects.  The CFWA is pleased to partner with the Red Cross in this endeavor.   Pictured:  Glenn Taylor from the CFWA and Jenine Daly, Public Support Coordinator of the Red Cross.
